The hip is a ball and socket joint that allows the upper leg to move front to back and side to side. The hip is the largest weight bearing joint in the body, it is surrounded by strong ligaments and muscles.
Its primary function is to support the weight of the body in both static (e.g. standing) and dynamic (e.g. walking or running) postures.
The pelvic inclination angle, which is the single most important element of human body posture, is mostly adjusted at the hips.

The knee is the largest joint and one of the most important joints in the body. It plays an essential role in movement related to carrying the body weight in horizontal (running and walking) and vertical (jumping) directions.

When we consider treatment alternatives, I present a realistic outlook on the results we can achieve. I'll also be frank about any risks that might be involved. If a non-surgical option is available, I'll explain that avenue in depth.
My practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of hip and knee disorders including total joint replacement surgery. I have a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery and have performed over 3800 minimally invasive computer-assisted total knee replacements and over 1600 minimally invasive anterior approach hip replacements. I routinely perform 15-20 joint replacements and see approximately 100 patients in clinic each week. I apologize in advance if it takes a while to get in to see me, but there are only 24 hours in a day!
